Apple was Adopted by a wonderful family from the Island. She left a couple of days ago and did very well on the drive and boat trip! The whole family had a sleepover in the barn to be sure that she was happy and settling in well. Now that is dedication! LOL

Here are a last couple of shots of our Apple before she left, we can't wait to see new ones of her with her new pony friends!

Some great pics...

Kristie was trying out her new camera, so we've got a batch of terrific pics for you!

Everything is going well. Shindig is healed up now and ready for Adoption too.

Apple is really coming along. She is nowhere near a skittish and really seems to love attention. She is mostly shed out except for a little bit of scruff due to malnutrition.

Apple and Kipper get along famously. They LOVE to run!

Or just hang out.

Kipper and Plum like to wrestle!

Plum is just so cute and friendly. He would much rather hang out with humans than horses, given the chance.

Sampson is being very cute these days too!

Summer is just flying by. Everyone is doing well. We have had another addition - Plum! His owner is moving halfway across the country and can't take him. She has entrusted us to find him a terrific home. Plum is actually Shindig's half-brother and though they had never met, they are good buddies now. It's a veritable family reunion here these days as Mulligan is their half-brother too!

Here are some pictures of everyone lately, some taken by Kristie and some by me.

Glee's new BFF - Joc!

The day finally arrived for Joc to go home and meet Glee! I've been hoping to find her match for years now! They are apparently doing very well together already, so here's to a great future for them as a team!

It will be another year at least for Joc to complete his recovery I expect, but what a success story this pair will be! They are two of our most severe cases and to see them happy, healthy and together in an awesome home is terrific!

Congrats on your new addition Margaret and may you three have tons of fun in the future!

Here are some pictures of the Silver Dapple twins!

This is exactly what we expected Glee to do at first... but she's all talk!

Joc checking out his new digs...

So, we are proud to introduce the Dynamic Duo, also known as Double Trouble! LOL

BATH DAY!

Many thanks to the gals who came out to help us on Bath Day! We got all seven Minis done in record time and a good time was had by all!

Here's Brianne easing Apple into it. She's never had a thing done to her, so everything is a surprise. She did end up liking to drink from the hose though! LOL

Kipper had his turn too!

Here he is looking all handsome! Kipper has lost an amazing 64 pounds so far! He is halfway there!

Margaret and I tackled Mulligan, he looks so handsome after a bath when he is very white and very black!

Everyone was strung out to dry on the grass... you can see Sampson still in the Paddocks awaiting his turn.

And Shindig having a good roll to be sure that he's nice and dirty before his turn. Sheesh.

Lather, rinse, repeat - got it?!

... and Jupiter's opinion of the whole day. LOL

We have a new arrival!

"Firefly's Mighty Fine Shindig" is a double regsitered (AMHA/AMHR) strawberry roan colt. He is here to be gelded and find a wonderful home. He was shown last year, but his family has since lost interest. He is actually out of my old stallion, Bond Bee Butch, and a lovely palomino mare, Bond Ecstasy. He was born at Sunnyvale Miniatures and was boarded there until he came to us, so he has had excellent care his whole life and is up to date on everything. He is very friendly and was very good for his bath yesterday!

Mulligan's latest adventure...

Well... I came to the barn one afternoon and was shocked to see Mulligan's tooth sticking out frontwise. I was rather dismayed as he just looked a fright! (As it added another two inches to his underbite! LOL) I phoned the vet and was relieved to hear that he is just the right age to start losing his teeth. (I just had never run into this before!) She advised me to get out the pliers and give him a hand as it had to be uncomfortable by that stage. So, I did. Then, a few days later I helped out the one beside it. So here is a picture of Mulligan making his Christmas wish list... (he looks less than impressed, hey?!)

Glee is happy... that's what her name is based on. Now, Moses will happy too... and he gets a new, new name! Joc (based on Jocularity) because he is going to live with Glee!

Congratulations to Margaret! Her long search (or was it MY long search) for a matching Silver Dapple is over! Glee and Joc are going to make a lovely driving pair!

Here is a picture of Joc today. Both he and his new owner are smiling!

"Happy Dance"

Joc was gelded today (after that picture!) and he'll stay with us for another month for recovery and socialization.

Well, Moses is doing so well and we decided to take him for a walk today to test his breathing. First, we wanted to clip him because he was sweating now that the weather is doing what it should be! He was a very good boy for clipping and we even got his face done with no problems! Then, we went for our walk. It was easy to see that he has not had to listen to a human for a looooong time! He was very badly behaved, but it was excellent to see him with so much energy and opinion! His breathing did not seem strained at all afterwards and he had done some trotting and even leaped over an obstacle! His feet are well on their way to being normal! All in all - a great day!

He's a bit hard to get a picture of because he follows you around!

Moses! He's looking very dapply these days, thanks to Margaret's time spent grooming him! Moses is trotting around comfortably now!

(The shaved patch on his neck is from having his blood drawn.)

I'm still impressed by the hair! LOL

Sampson, Mercury and Mulligan!

Mulligan is really going to miss Mercury I think!

Mercury and Sampson, chilling out in the sun!

Hi! We're still here!

So sorry for not updating lately! The week preceding April 30th means: "Holy cow I better get the company's year-end finished and file our taxes!" All done now and we're getting back on track! So... what's new? Well, Zodiac has been adopted by a wonderful family. They are interested in driving and that is just what Zodiac needs! He is such a powerful and beautiful mover!

Also, before I get too far here, I would just like to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who participated in our April Fundraiser! We raised well over our goal of $1000! Tax receipts and thank-yous are coming soon! Thank you all so very much, it is great to know that we're not in this alone!

Moses is improving in leaps and bounds. Well... he's not leaping or bounding, but I did see him trot once! The farrier is coming tomorrow for the second round of trimming and I can' wait to see those improvements! He is still very sweet, but is showing much more personality and opinions now that he's feeling better! It's good to see!

Mercury is looking gorgeous! His coat is almost evened out now and he is quite the looker! We were amazed when the last couple of groups to come through the Paddocks received his undivided attention. He actually walked up to us and allowed strangers to touch him! He is really starting to turn the corner in recovering from his abuse. He's got some folks interested in him, so we're hoping that he will finally have his own family to love him sometime soon!

Sampson is doing great as well. He is the boss of the geldings, but will allow them to wrestle with him and play running games. The structural allignment session went well. He is permanently disfigured in the shoulder and chest area, but it does not stop him in any way from doing what horses do! He just won't ever be a cart horse. With proper nutrition and some easy physio, such as walking over poles, he will improve somewhat. He needs a home where he can just hang out and be walked through obstacle courses for fun. He is used to big horses and is great with Minis as well.

Kipper. Oh, Kipper. He is stealing my heart! Kipper is one of the friendliest Minis we've ever had in. He just LOVES people! He will come over and when I kneel down to scratch him, he gazes into my eyes like he's trying to talk to my soul. He needs a new home QUICK! Haha... no, I won't keep him, but he is a pretty cool little horse! I am going to weigh him today and see if he is losing weight yet. We want to be sure that he is dropping the pounds naturally and that he does not have some sort of metabolic issue that keeps him fat. I haven't weighed him since he arrived, so this should tell us what we need to know.

Barring any surprises when I go over them with a fine-tooth comb (figuratively speaking), Kipper and Sampson will be up for Adoption any day now.

To reward your patience... here are a bunch of awesome shots taken by our awesome volunteer, Kristie!

Here's Sampson, tossing his pretty hair around!

And Kipper... larger than life... and most other things.

He's got some pretty fancy action for a plus-size model!

He CAN actually get all four feet off the ground!

Kipper gets supervised playtime with the geldings. He is still plays too rough to leave unattended. The boys usually mellow out after a few weeks, but Kipper is a high-energy kind of guy! Here he is meeting Mercury.

Jupiter checks him out.

Then it is game ON! Mercury is always up for some fun!

Then Kristie asked them to stand nicely for a pretty picture... but they are just brats!

But, they finally obeyed and she got some calm shots. LOL

Update..

Okay, let's see now...

Zodiac is healing nicely and has had a promising visit from a very nice family.
Mercury is suffering through my learning curve after we audited the Jonathan Field clinic. I am working on "friendly" and "neutral" with him.
Sampson is healing well and is quite a sweet guy. He is living with Mercury (and Cavalier until today) now and spending sunny days with Jupiter and Mully as well.
Kipper is healing well. He gets supervised playtime with Jupiter and Mercury. He looks so hilarious when he runs!
Moses is doing pretty good. The vet was out and confirmed that his breathing is much better. He is walking better as well, but has a long way to go. His blood panel came back with no worrisome indicators. It looks like he just needs time and TLC.
